Vocation

Thank you for your response,
First, vocation means a calling from God, and this does not automatically mean for priesthood. All Christians have a common vocation and that is to lead a life of holiness. Married life is also a vocation, in the same way as priesthood. Religious life or single blessedness are also vocations.

If you feel you have a calling from God about priesthood, this will take a long process of discernment, a decision making that needs to consider every aspects of your life - including your present situation. God has planted within us His purpose why He let us live, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)

No matter what our age or status is, If God wills it, it will be done. In the Archdiocese of Manila for example, we have a seminary dedicated for people with late vocations, the Holy Apostles Seminary at Guadalupe in Makati City. So do not lose hope.

Moreover, as regards to your nephews, as stated in the bible verse above, it is God who appoints on what He wants us to be. Time will determine if God really calls them to the priesthood, but for the mean time, your nephews which were committed under your care are to be raised in Christian life.

If you are determined to make your discernment, you might want to follow these steps in discernment posted by the Cenacle Sisters. Please go to this link: http://www.cenaclephilsing.org/what-are-the-steps-in-discernment/

Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to correspond again as it is our pleasure to be at your service.

Sincerely,
